My dad likes to buy fresh local strawberries whenever he can get them, usually at roadside stands, so I made him this card today!

I was rereading Tithe (probably my first introduction to the genre of urban faerie, still a fun read!!) by the amazing Holly Black, and so, you know, fairy art. I always seem to come back to that.

Yes, I now have 30 FEET of gorgeous Arches watercolor paper, purchased for a big commission. And yes, it was a challenge to get it out of the box and a challenge to take a pic with it. Now it’s hanging out in my room in a huge roll. Excited to try working on it! #artistchallenges #bathroom selfie #paperforlife

… at my dining room table:)

What I see under my window pretty much every morning. It’s there right now, as a matter of fact.
Here’s a silly piece of art for you. I think it was for my boyfriend Tyler for last Valentine’s Day:) Having fun with a comic/anime-esque style! P.S. He goes by Bonsen around this house. We both do.

Fun in Photoshop! I can finally add details over a watercolor wash! Woohoo! Something I’ve wanted to experiment with for a long time. I finally bit the financial bullet and invested in Photoshop (after finally investing in a decent working computer with the ability to handle PS…). Let the Arts Experimentation continue!

Continuing with the babies in nature theme…

Just put up prints of this one on my Etsy shop! (https://www.etsy.com/listing/274673270/hummingbird-baby-art-print?ref=shop_home_active_1)
I’d like to point out that that baby is going to eat that bug. Just fyi.
I’m working on an “Up North Baby” series where I put adorable tots in adorable nature situations, see above. I hope to approach baby shops with the prints when I have a few finished, printed, and matted/framed! Another exciting artist learning opportunity/avenue (there are so many. SO MANY. This profession is like the hydra – learn/do one thing, discover ten more things to learn/do. Sometimes it’s exhausting. Generally it’s awesome.)

I have a print of the above piece in the silent auction at the Hopkins Empty Bowls Fundraiser in Hopkins, Minnesota next Tuesday at the Hopkins Center for the Arts in downtown Hopkins. Come out to support a great cause if you’re in the area! More info here: https://www.facebook.com/HopkinsEmptyBowls/
I’m excited to use my art to support my community. That’s a long-term art goal for me, generally speaking: to do good with art!
