Current Project: I’m prepping my middle grade slice-of-life fantasy graphic novel Scary to prepare for querying agents!

Hi! I’m Carmen (she/her), a creator of magical and honest comics for kids + teens. I’m obsessed with coming of age stories and magic, and love to create accessible, vibrant art that gives readers a safe place to escape to. My work has appeared in New Moon Girls Magazine, online in the 90+ page webcomic Mermaid Days, and is inspired by working at indie bookstores and a school library. I’m also an alumnus of Janna Morishima’s 2022 Kids Comics Unite Graphic Novel Intensive and a member of the SCBWI.

I currently live in the Bay Area of California despite loving my home state of Minnesota. My family includes a charismatic mini Aussie and a mischievous spouse who may be a vampire, and my dream weekend is cooking an elaborate brunch, watching K-pop music videos and reading my way through a juicy book haul.
