Carmen always wanted to be an artist when she grew up.

As an undergraduate in Religious Studies at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Carmen got to explore the fascinating world of religious art, focusing on early Islamic painting. Post-college, she interned at a local publishing company, Graywolf Press.

Carmen currently enjoys using all the parts of her brain by being a full-time banker, subbing at Wild Rumpus (the most amazing children’s bookstore ever!), and working as a freelance illustrator. Her work often incorporates her love of food, fantasy, critters, and the outdoors.
